EXCEL (15-18 Yr. Olds): Executive Skills Program for Learning & Life

Be more PRODUCTIVE and SUCCESSFUL in school

If your child has weak executive skills, they may be easily overwhelmed with tasks that have multiple components; be in Inflexible in their thinking; be disorganized, have problems planning and prioritizing; lack initiative or be impulsive; or put too little or too much effort into their work.

Learning to Connect in collaboration with the Child and Youth Development clinic is offering EXCEL- a 5-week program to improve executive skills (e.g., organization, focus, and self-regulation). Both strategy instruction AND supported strategy practice using the student's own schoolwork is provided by two speech-language pathologists with the support of psychology and speech-language pathology graduate students. At the end of the program, students will have: a better understanding of their strengths/weaknesses, a toolkit of executive strategies, and individualized plans to improve challenging activities. This program is appropriate for 15-18 year olds. Students may have a diagnosis such as learning disability, attention disorder, or brain injury/concussion.
